New Scents and Samplers Available Plus a Contest for January!

We are gearing up for February orders. Today we made soap, with lots of Heart shaped Sample bars. Our newest scents are Rose, and Sensual (one of my favorites.) Next week we plan to make two more scents. Please be sure to chime in if you have a favorite scent that isn't listed.
I don't particularly like 'flowery' scents, but the Rose is incredible. My house smells like I have bouquets of fresh roses everywhere.

We are offering a Sampler Package too for those who just can't decide. All sample bars are Heart shaped, except Lavender and Energy. And best of all, when you order the sampler package you'll get a coupon for free shipping with your next order. I'll post a picture soon.

Watch for the announcement for a new contest. We are brainstorming for ideas. Maybe THAT should be our next contest! Okay so this IS the announcement for a new contest!

UPDATE ON CONTEST
Please read carefully - additional ways to garner entries have been added.

Here are the rules:
You leave us a suggestion on how to increase our traffic. We'll ask some of our savvy blog friends to help us choose the best suggestion. The winner will receive a Sampler Package with one of *every* scent we have available. Also in your comment tell us which scent you like best, and if there is one you like that we don't offer.
Though it isn't a requirement for this contest, You might want to follow our blog. This is the first of many give-aways, and we want you to know about all of them.

You can also enter to win a Grand Prize by:
actually helping us drive traffic by sharing our contest with your friends. The more friends you send to enter, the better your chances of winning!

You can twitter, link back from your blog, facebook page, stumble, digg, etc. Just leave us a comment with the link showing us how you are spreading the word. Only one entry per day, per method.
When you refer your friends or post about it, tell them to mention your name when they enter - that will be worth a double entry for each of you.

And since our main goal is not to just increase viewers, but ultimately increase sales - You'll get 10 entries for each purchase (and matching entries for any friends you refer that purchase - as long as they mention your name in the comment they leave us.)

The Grand prize will be a Spa in a Box - including a full size bar of soap,a soap holder, bath salts, a loofah sponge, and a sugar scrub, with scents of your choice. Get those creative juices flowing, and tell all your friends to enter the contest too (which will net you more entries!)

Contest ends Jan 31st or when we get 200 qualifying comments, whichever comes first. (I am sitting here thinking about the mental challenge of calculating entries, and decided to cap it lest it become more than my feeble brain can compute.)

I find that a good way to increase traffic is to announce the contest on twitter, stumble, facebook etc. As part of the contest, you should probable say that the entrants get an extra entry for doing one of those things. I know that I check twitter for contest announcements.

There are several websites that list your contest as well. One I recently saw was COntest Machine. It gives you an entry form format for the contest. These get a lot of entries as well.

Hope you get traffic!! I will tell friends about this contest.

I agree giveaways increase traffic. Also you could try submitting an article about soap marking to Associated Content

What you are actually doing is one of the best ways to increase traffic! People tend to gravitate to a website to find giveaways.

Another way to do it is to send a sample to another blogger to try, have them review it, and then they'll host a contest by you on their blog-- I know I always look for reviews on a product before I buy it!

Good luck to you and your shop!

I think that a giveaway is a great way to increase traffic. I think that part of it should be have them put a link back to your blog should be one of the requirements.

Giveaways!!!
And give extra credit entries for blogging or twittering about it. And there are other forums and giveaway sites where it can be advertised for free.
You can either run the giveaways yourself......or you could have another blogger (such as myself ;) ) run it for you. hint hint nudge nudge wink wink. Let me know if you're interested ;)

I search Twitter for "giveaway' and I also search on Google blogs. I end up purchasing something about 25% of the time - usually for gifts. I like "different" items , like your soaps, that can't be purchased in the ryral community where I live.

The best way to increase your traffic is wide coverage of your giveaway. I'd suggest online-sweepstakes.com

Also, make sure that the entrants need to spend some time on your site instead of just doing a hit and run entry. This could be as easy as picking their favorite scent or a simple question with the answer available on your site. If you choose this option, add the rule that entrants need to find the answer themselves and not to share. Sweepstakes sites often post answers but will respect your request not to share if you ask.

Right now this giveaway has 12 comments. I expect mine will be comment 13. If this was listed on online-sweepstakes.com, the number would be closer to 200, if not more.

Send me an email if you have any questions. I would be more than willing to list this on a few sweepstakes sites if you would like me to.

VANILLA Would be the scent.

Ok the best way to get traffic is ask people friends to blog- or ask them to review your product- smaller bloggers too, they go to sweeps sites and post and mention it too and drive traffic. You could over a product to review and a giveaway- even a small candle or soap. These days people want to try things. I would go to contest sites and post in the contests, and in the craft and homemade sites sections anything you can do to drive traffic- when you join the sites if it is not against site rules put a signature linking to your shop. I do not twitter but heard that is popular. You can also go ad get together with another shop and make gift basket prizes that are bigger and still get advertising. Great luck to you!

I would love, love, love to win this!!!

Contests both online and in local places like the supermarket. Radio has a lot of contests and this would be a great way for free advertisement. Contact eprize and other large companies that handle contests and they will do it for you.

Avoid contest sites like Online-Sweepstakes.

The members on that site are VERY clear with thread after thread about how stupid blogs are and how your measly prize isn't worth their time.

Real traffic suggestions are Etsy, Twitter, Stumble, asking other bloggers to post your contest, etc.

Bloggers are a good way to increase serious traffic. Sweep sites are only good for numbers but not buyers.

Traffic isn't about getting a bunch of sweepers trying to win, it's about selling product.

I posted this on my blog here:

I think offering a contest is the best way to drive traffic here also. If you offer extra entries for posting your contest elsewhere, that helps also. Try submitting it to Bath, Body and Candle's contest listings.
http://bathbodycandle.blogspot.com/
I am also going to post it on two of my private contest groups, which should bring in a lot of traffic!
Unfortunately, they are private so I can't absolutely prove I did it, but if you start getting a LOT of entries, that might be the reason.

I like fruity scents. All of the above suggestions are great. The only one I have is to be more concise in entry options and who wins what prize and how many. I read through all the ways to enter and got more confused with each reading. This alone would turn off many potential readers. Thanks.

I never thought a soap could improve the condition of my skin. I have very dry skin and always tended to avoid soap except for the "necessary" parts.

Then DeeDee sent me a sample of her Hannamade Goats Milk Soap! I selected the Energy fragrance. Not only do I love the scent, but it's creamy texture and not the least, how it makes my skin feel! I've order 2 full size bars!

Thanks Hanna and DeeDee!!!

1. I think having the contest is a great way to drive people to your site.
2. I like peppermint anything - whether to eat, drink, light, rub on me, soap up, etc.
3. I have a friend who makes soap and she makes a terrific knock-off of the Apple Jack scent.
4. Frankly, I don't think you should cap the contest entries at 200 if the whole point of the contest is to drive traffic to your site. Looks to me like you are shooting yourself in the foot if just when things get really hopping you put out the stop sign. What's up with that? If you don't want to judge the entries, then just choose the winner by random number. It isn't like anyone really cares who wins. We just want a shot. That's just my suggestion, but I am a marketing specialist.

Best wishes and thanks for having the giveaway!

I really am loving the soap! I started using the mochalatte on my face and it feel wonderful.
I love the exfoliation and it leaves my skin feeling clean, soft and not at all oily as I thought it would because of it's ceamy texture.
The few breakouts I had are clearing up as well.
I know it’s only been a couple of days since I started using it but it seems to be doing very well for me.
I think the give away is a good incentive. It gives the customer a chance to actually see, touch and smell your product. I am so confident in your product that I also just posted about you on my own site.
Good luck with traffic!

My favorite scent is always lavender. Delicious and refreshing.

How to bring traffic to your site: I am also a small business owner. On a regular basis, I offer up ebay auctions and give all the proceeds to a non-profit cause. For myself, I pick animal shelters to receive the monies form the auction. This not only gets the word out about my product and website, but I get to GIVE to a worthy cause! I like to believe my customers are happy to bid for a worthy cause. And I'll tell you what, people bid more when they believe in the cause. More for the cause and I feel pretty darned good at the end of the day.

I thin the best way to drive traffic to your site is through giveaways. Through other bloggers who have more foloowers and frequent readers who connect a link to your site they also offer a outside opinion to your products ( of course you think their great but having someone not affiliated with them saying their great goes along way!) They also work to get the people tot he site posting the giveaway through other sites which ultimately leads to more traffic.
Your products look fantastic and are affordable!

My traffic tip for you is to get a video camera and record a video showing how to make a very simple soap product. Something that won't give away any of your "trade secrets".
